H.B. Fuller enthusiasm for Super Bowl LII is heating up!

Super Bowl fans traveling to Minnesota in February may be wondering about the weather. But almost 10,000 volunteers, including about 80 from H.B Fuller, are determined to provide a welcome so warm it will offset any wind chill.

These volunteers, called Crew 52, had the opportunity to show their enthusiasm on November 12 at a pep rally at the Xcel Energy Center. The high-energy event outlined volunteers’ responsibilities during the 10 days leading up to Super Bowl LII and included speakers and tips about how to interact with out-of-state visitors. The invitation said to wear purple, and almost everyone did.

As a Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee sponsor, H.B. Fuller is one of a group of companies providing financial support, involvement and leadership to positively impact the community both during the Super Bowl and long after the game is over. The experience we will provide during the Super Bowl goes a long way toward growth and vitality in the state, which is one reason we are excited about our participation.

Crew 52 will be the “face of Minnesota” during the Super Bowl. The process to fill 10,000 volunteer slots began months ago when the Super Bowl Volunteer Committee screened and selected 500 screening specialists, who then became the army that interviewed an astounding 30,000 potential volunteers. What did they look for? Bold, friendly people who were passionate about football, Minnesota, and extending a warm welcome to one million visitors.

For several months, H.B. Fuller has had the opportunity to work with other local leaders (and Minnesota enthusiasts) to help bring Super Bowl LII to life – and build a stronger community in the process. One goal of the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee is to ensure that the positive impact of the Super Bowl touches every corner of the state.

H.B. Fuller volunteers for Frogtown Farm as part of the Legacy Fund 52 Weeks of Giving Campaign. To enable statewide reach, the committee established a Legacy Fund and a 52 Weeks of Giving Campaign. Each week during the year leading up to the Super Bowl, the committee awards a grant to a community project focused on the health and wellness of kids. In August, the H.B. Fuller Company Foundation sponsored a $50,000 grant to Frogtown Farm, one of the largest urban farms in the country, to help build an outdoor kitchen and education space to engage more of the neighborhood in healthy eating practices.

It may be getting colder outside, but at H.B. Fuller, enthusiasm is heating up for Super Bowl LII. Here is what some of our employees have said about their experience as volunteers:

As one of 500 screening specialists:

“Through this process I got to meet a lot of people who not only love Minnesota, but also want to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I interviewed people who traveled from North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and – of course – Minnesota, and it has been exciting to see this one event bring so many people together.” – Sarah Heitkamp, Talent Acquisition Sarah conducting interviews for Super Bowl LII volunteers.

After attending the Crew 52 rally in November:

“It was a great event to get everyone energized for the rare opportunity to host a Super Bowl.  I’m looking forward to representing Minnesota and hope to make all our visitors feel welcome.” – Bill Pulanco, Hygiene Technical Service Manager

“The energy at the Crew 52 event was contagious! So many people excited to be part of the upcoming Super Bowl event because they love Minnesota so much and want to share with visitors all that our amazing state has to offer, not just one week in February, but all year long!” – Jodie Monson, Business Partner - Innovation & Strategy

“What an exceptionally organized and energized group. Cannot wait for the events to begin!” – Ann Lovgren, Regulatory Chemist
